About us

Engineering solutions that connect people, places and possibilities.

For decades, TTW has shaped the built environment through collaborative engineering, bringing together people, ideas and expertise across borders.

What began in a shared Sydney office with three entrepreneurial engineers, Dick Taylor, Jock Thomson and Alan Whitting, has grown into an international consultancy delivering some of the region’s most complex projects. While our projects have evolved, one thing has remained constant. Our belief that great engineering starts with people.

Since opening in Sydney in 1958, TTW has grown alongside the communities and industries that have shaped Australia, showing up where our clients and the people they serve needed us most.

Canberra in 1984, Melbourne in 1997 and Brisbane in 2023. Each office is a connection to new communities, new challenges, and the engineers who chose to plant roots in them.

Today, TTW’s Australian offices are home to hundreds of engineers, designers and specialists, people who bring not just technical expertise, but a genuine investment in the places they work and the communities they build.

Our Heritage

Engineering with people at the heart

We challenge convention through thoughtful engineering and intelligent innovation. Advanced technology, evolving materials and practical construction insight allow us to solve complex problems with clarity and creativity. Technology expands what is possible. It is the insight, curiosity and collaboration of our people that turn possibility into built outcomes.

Our Values

Purpose in our thinking. Collaboration in our approach. People at our core.

Initiative

We proactively seek opportunities, lead with determination, and own our achievements

Personal Approach

We prioritise availability, nurture relationships, and focus on delivering exceptional results

Collaboration

We combine diverse talents and ideas to innovate and achieve collective success

Technical Excellence

We proactively seek opportunities, lead with determination, and own our achievements

Our work is guided by four core values: Collaboration, Technical Excellence, Initiative and a Personal Approach. Together, they shape how we think, how we lead and how we deliver.

These values define who we are as engineers and as partners. They drive us to create thoughtful, practical solutions while fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability and long-term impact.

People first. Your vision, delivered with precision.

Our Impact

Our impact goes beyond engineering

The Prime Minister's Veteran's Employment Program

The Veterans Employment Commitment allows businesses to make a public commitment to support the employment of veterans. The Commitment is open to all Australian businesses that would like to benefit from the skills and experience of our ex-servicemen and women.

Signing the Commitment shows that we, at TTW, recognise the skills, values and experience that veterans can bring to a business. We are proud to be a part of this inspiring program with our community.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan

TTW embraces diversity throughout the organisation, with a strong sense of community in a collaborative and imaginative workplace. Our employees are appreciated for their diverse range of opinions, talents, cultures and experiences. Currently, our staff come from at least 20 different national backgrounds.

Pro Bono and Community Projects

We contribute our expertise where it matters most:

  • Housing All Australians: Pro bono civil engineering for affordable housing for older women at risk of homelessness in Marrickville.
  • Wilya Janta Housing Project: Specialist structural advice supporting culturally appropriate housing for Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.
  • Industry Advocacy: Sponsoring and hosting NAWIC NSW events that create pathways for women in engineering.

Building the Next Generation

Our partnerships with leading universities and our Emerging Engineers Program provide structured pathways from graduate to Chartership, investing in the future of engineering whilst strengthening our industry for everyone.
