A world-first in hybrid timber high-rise, rising above Sydney’s Central Station

Project Overview

Atlassian Central, co-owned by Dexus and Atlassian, is a landmark 40-storey commercial tower rising approximately 180 metres high within Sydney’s Innovation and Technology Precinct. Positioned above Central Station, it represents a new generation of workplace design at the intersection of sustainability, connectivity and urban integration.

This 40,000sqm development will accommodate up to 25,000 workers and is recognised as a world-first in hybrid timber high-rise construction. Its innovative structural system combines mass timber with steel and glass to set a new benchmark for sustainable commercial design.

Designed as a vibrant mixed-use destination, the tower integrates workplace, public and community spaces, including a youth hostel within the lower levels.

Scope of Work

TTW is delivering multidisciplinary engineering services across civil, structural and façade design, including:

  • Major stormwater infrastructure, flood protection strategies and integration with the public domain, ensuring alignment with both current works and future precinct development
  • Strategic core repositioning to efficiently manage overturning forces, optimise concrete use and ensure a buildable structural solution for the building’s height and form
  • A bespoke inclined curtain wall façade with integrated vertical solar panels generating renewable energy on site
  • Specialist transport and infrastructure expertise as the approved engineering organisation (AEO), working closely with Transport for NSW to coordinate complex interfaces

"We have worked with some of the world's best structural engineers Eckersley O'Callaghan and TTW to develop the structural solution. This will be the tallest hybrid timber structure in the world."
