Cyclone-resilient modular timber homes, built for Queensland’s most remote communities

Project Overview

A timber modular housing solution for QBuild’s statewide programme to address Queensland’s housing supply shortage.
The homes comprise separate timber-framed modules that support the local timber industry and are designed to withstand Queensland’s coastal and cyclonic conditions.
They will be deployed across the state, including remote locations such as the Torres Strait Islands, Thursday Island, Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island, Horn Island and K’gari (Fraser Island).

Scope of Work

TTW’’s scope of work for the QBuild Timber Prototype project, is inclusive of:

  • Engineering and delivering a timber modular housing solution for QBuild’s statewide program addressing Queensland’s housing supply shortage.
  • Utilising a modern methods of construction (MMC) approach, streamlining the design and delivery of modular housing through volumetric, flat-pack and kit-of-parts systems developed in partnership with the Office of the Queensland Government Architect and industry suppliers.
  • Attention to construction sequencing, resolution of details and high levels of documentation
